 Boxes

Simple paper mache boxes become spectacular with some added color and decorative PolyShrink elements. Our thanks to the exceptional artist and teacher Jane Roulston for introducing us to this great idea! Faux Beach Glass Box

 Method:

Start by applying a base color coat to the box. This can be done with a wide variety of paints or pigments. (This box began with a "direct from the pad" application of cocoa Colorbox Crafter's ink.) Follow the base coat with several more colors of ink applied using a stippling brush. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for heat setting the ink.

Next, add layers of Pearl Ex by rubbing them on with your fingers, then apply a coat of Matte Spray sealer.

To make the PolyShrink Intaglio pieces, please refer to the PolyShrink General Instructions. For highlighting options see the Intaglio Project in the Project Gallery.

When you've completed your Faux Beach Glass elements, adhere them to the box using UTB (Ultra Thin Bond), or other glue.

For the finishing touch for your box, add little wooden feet. A variety of wooden shapes are available at home and craft stores. Color them to match your box, apply a coat of sealer and adhere them to the bottom of the box.

Actual box size:2.25" x 2.25" x 1.5 "
