A self-taught rubber stamper and artist, Chris Young has been creating with rubber stamps for approximately 9 years. She considers herself an avid "shrinker" for the past year. Chris has been published many times in the Rubber Stamper and Stamper's Sampler magazines, and has taught several different techniques in local stores.

Chris lives in St. Louis, MO. with her teenage son, Jake, a dog and a cat. With working full-time, attending college part-time, and taking care of her family, Chris finds stamping, and working with shrink plastic in particular, her favorite therapy.

Green Stone Man necklace and earring set:
Earrings are White PolyShrink, colored with blue and green chalks, stamped, and then shrunk. The necklace piece is colored with chalks and then stamped after shrinking. Line all edges of plastic with liquid gold pen and seal with matte acrylic sealer.

Half face pin: Background is Black PolyShrink using Intaglio technique with a crackle stamp, followed by gold rub-ons. Face stamped on Canvas White PolyShrink and colored with chalks. Seal piece with matte acrylic sealer.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Green Abstract necklace:

  • Cut egg shapes out of Canvas White PolyShrink
  • Color with green chalks and shrink
  • Stamp different portions of a stamp design on pieces with black heat set ink and heat
  • Dome-shape the pieces over a half wooden egg by heating plastic.
  • Line edges with liquid gold pen and seal with matte acrylic sealer.

Rose necklace:
Shrink egg-shaped piece of Canvas White PolyShrink, stamp portion of rose, color with chalks, edge with liquid gold, and seal with a glossy acrylic sealer. The smaller rose pieces were stamped, colored, and then shrunk before sealing.

Blue Rose Bracelet: Stamp rose onto oval pieces of Canvas White PolyShrink and color with chalks. After shrinking, line each piece with liquid gold pen. Heat shape on domed wooden piece. Seal all pieces with matte acrylic sealer.
